AboutGrand Theft Auto V or GTA V for Mac is an action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It was released on 17 September 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, on 18 November 2014 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and on 14 April 2015 for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. It is the first main entry in the Grand Theft Auto series since 2008’s Grand Theft Auto IV. Set within the fictional state of San Andreas, based on Southern California, the single-player GTA V for Mac’s story follows three criminals and their efforts to commit heists while under pressure from a government agency. The open world design lets players freely roam San Andreas’ open countryside and the fictional city of Los Santos, based on Los Angeles.GTA V for Mac is played from either a first-person or third-person view and its world is navigated on foot or by vehicle. Players control the three lead protagonists throughout single-player and switch between them both during and outside of missions.

The story is centred on the heist sequences, and many missions involve shooting and driving gameplay. A “wanted” system governs the aggression of law enforcement response to players who commit crimes. Grand Theft Auto Online, the online multiplayer mode, lets up to 30 players explore the open world and engage in cooperative or competitive game matches.GameplayGTA V for Mac is an action-adventure game played from either a first-person or third-person view. Players complete missions—linear scenarios with set objectives—to progress through the story. Outside of missions, players may freely roam the open world. Composed of the San Andreas open countryside area and the fictional city of Los Santos, the world is much larger in area than earlier entries in the series. It may be fully explored after the game’s beginning without restriction, although story progress unlocks more gameplay content.Players use melee attacks, firearms and explosives to fight enemies, and may run, jump, swim or use vehicles to navigate the world.
To accommodate the map’s size, GTA V for Macintroduces vehicle types absent in its predecessor Grand Theft Auto IV, such as fixed-wing aircraft. In combat, auto-aim and a cover system may be used as assistance against enemies. Should players take damage, their health meter will gradually regenerate to its halfway point. Players in GTA V for Mac respawn at hospitals when their health depletes.
Mar 06, 2018 Hi there, is anyone tried GTA V on their iMac yet via Bootcamp? I have a Late 2013/2014 iMac with an Nvidia GeForce GT 750m, and with pretty much all but a few games that I play, I play at 1080p (with a few I drop down to 900p to squeeze out the constant 60fps).
If players commit crimes, law enforcement agencies may respond as indicated by a “wanted” meter in the head-up display (HUD). Stars displayed on the meter indicate the current wanted level. Law enforcement officers will search for players who leave the wanted vicinity. The meter enters a cooldown mode and eventually recedes when players are hidden from the officers’ line of sight that displays on the mini-map.The single-player mode in GTA V for Mac lets players control three characters: Michael De Santa, Trevor Philips and Franklin Clinton—criminals whose stories interconnect as they complete missions. In GTA V for Mac some missions are completed with only one character and others feature two or three.

Outside of missions, players may switch between characters at will by means of a directional compass on the HUD. GTA V for Mac may switch characters automatically during missions to complete certain objectives. A character’s compass avatar will flash red if he is in danger and needs help, and flash white if he has a strategic advantage. Though players complete missions as any of the three protagonists, the more difficult heist missions require aid from AI-controlled accomplices with unique skill sets like computer hacking and driving. If an accomplice survives a successful heist, they take a cut from the cash reward and may be available for later missions with improvements to their unique skills.
Differentiation in heist mission strategies is encouraged; in a holdup mission, players may either stealthily subdue civilians with an incapacitating agent or conspicuously storm the venue with guns drawn.DownloadNow you can enjoy one of the best games of our generation in your Mac OS X. Here's the problem: My wife has a Macbook Pro (she needed a mac specifically for work). We want to play GTA Online together. We don't have the $$$ to buy a fast PC just to play games on.
So I have been looking into ways to get GTA to run on her Mac. To make matters worse we're down to about 25GB of internal storage on her Mac so Bootcamp isnt immediatly viable. (would could free up some space but using almost 1/2 her internal storage (250GB) on just windows/GTA (about 90GB total) is hard to justify. My current idea is to install windows and GTA V on an external SSD and then run it on her Mac over USB 3.0.
Is this plausable? Will it be too slow to play at a decent resolution? Will it oveerheat? Should I just bite the bullet and start selling my body on the streets to get that second PC? Any and all serious input would be helpful.
Tldr: buy a pc.Okay: I've used computers since 1983. I've used ms-dos. I've used windows since 3.0. I've since used 95, 98, 2000, me, xp, vista, 7, 8 and 10.I've used Macs since 2006, and have used every version since 10.5. Currently running macOS Sierra.I've used windows 7,8 and 10 through bootcamp on both iMacs. I also have experience with the 2015 MacBookPro because I bought one for my son.I've also opened and replaced parts on both PC and Mac, so I'm familiar with what's inside. So, I kinda like to think I know a little about this. Here's my advice.ADVICE 1:Rather than trying to run from a usb3 hd, I'd advise getting a thunderbolt 3 enabled hd rather than usb3, but ONLY if your mbp is 2015 or later.
Earlier mbps would have a Thunderbolt 2, which is still twice as fast as usb3, but not as fast as T3.Usb3 will give you up to around 5gigbits/second, thunderbolt 2 will give you 20, thunderbolt 3 will give 40. It'll also transmit video well. That could be a plus for running the OS and the game off the external.source:ADVICE 2:That said, imo your BEST option is to get a PC for gaming. I run a lot of games off my imac and it runs them well. After all, inside, it's all the same hardware. With Mac, you're paying for software, and I do love the OS. At the same time, it's nice to have a computer that's completely dedicated to the os.I ran a mac completely off an external for awhile and didn't like it.
It ran the hd too hard, and I noticed it would get pretty warm after awhile, because externals don't have fans like an internal gets.Externals really aren't MEANT to be used to run an os, which requires constantly read-writing when you use the computer. As well, most macbook pros actually DON'T have a video card capable of handling a lot of games.2015 mbp runs an Intel Iris Graphics 6100, which rates just above a GTX 460m. I just don't think you're going to get a good performance on a lot of games.2017 mbp only runs an AMD Radeon Pro 450 which is much better. So you need to know your graphics card.So really, I'd advise getting a proper gaming computer. Ideally we'd just get another computer, I'm running on a windows PC I built about 6 months (GTX 1060 and the works) and it's glorious.
The problem is money, we cant justify buying another $1000+ dollar PC just to game on, and she needs the Mac for work so we can't just sell it and join the fun side of the computer war.Are you aware of any SSD w/ thunderbolt 3 and 500GB-1TB memory that are in a price range where it would make sense to buy it instead of just saving up the extra money and getting the PC?I like the idea! I'm just not as knowledgable when it comes to Macs or even external hardware as I am with the standard internal goodies. I'm just not as knowledgable when it comes to Macs or even external hardware as I am with the standard internal goodies. Well, most pc's that can run GTA V aren't 1000$. I bought a pre-built with gtx960, i5 4460, 8gb ddr, 1tb for 600$, not including windows. Like honestly it runs great and it'll be much better than any mac.
Hi, I admit the reply being too late to your case, but in my eyes you have a few options, option one is using Bootcamp via an external SSD or hard drive, in order to do so, you can easily find a tutorial with 9 to 5 Mac and using that install the bootcamp on the external drive and then use windows as a second nature.Option two is using parallels, now parallels again you can find various tutorials as to how to use it, and where to download it. Being a little costly 80$ you get a full fledged virtual machine edition of Windows 10 (no need to activate windows if you want to just play games).Another option is GeForce Now, the program is in Beta and has free access in USA and Europe, this program allows you to stream games in their full resolutions, yes you can actually play them with no performance loss and no problems to your laptop at all.
Its available for Mac and Windows alike but at the same time you should have a copy of the game you want on Steam or Origin or.Please do remember that although during bootcamp you will be able to play games, but at the same time, if you do, your PC might start heating up, you might need to use Mac Fan Control and also if possible at all get an EGPU box with a GPU installed. (Completely upto you) but this is just incase the game start running normally and starts to have a decrease in FPS and then becoming completely unplayable due to thermal throttling.Hope this answer albeit being late was helpful.
